Accepted Items and How to Prepare Them
When scheduling your pickup, list every item you plan to set out—items not listed will not be collected.
Appliances and Refrigerated Units
Includes: Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, water heaters, furnaces.
Preparation:
- Empty refrigerators and freezers of all food and debris; remove shelves, drawers, or doors if possible.
-
A separate truck handles appliances with refrigerants (CFCs or Freon). Let us know about these items when scheduling or they won’t be collected.
How to tell if your appliance contains refrigerant:
- Cools air or food (fridge, freezer, AC)
- Check labels for R-22, R-134a, R-410A, or Freon
-
If unsure, mention it when scheduling
Household Furniture and Décor
Includes: Couches, tables, chairs, TVs, beds, mattresses, metal furniture, cabinets, bathroom fixtures, rugs, carpet.
Preparation:
- Carpet must be rolled up and over 4 ft long (~1.5 meters) or 40 lbs (18 kg) to qualify; smaller pieces go in regular trash.
-
Furniture and fixtures should be dry, clean, and easy for crews to reach. Do not remove drawers from furniture.
Miscellaneous Oversized Items
Includes: Garage doors, lawn mowers, railroad ties, disassembled swing sets, metal fencing, storm windows, glass panes.
Preparation:
- Lawn mowers: drain all fuel and oil.
