Background:
The Planning Sustainable Places (PSP) program continues the work of the Creating Sustainable Places initiative and the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan, Transportation Outlook 2040, to promote concepts consistent with sustainable communities and advance site-specific and project-specific activities within the centers-and-corridors planning framework.
Project Description:
In 2019, PSP granted funding to the City of Kansas City, Missouri 63rd Street Corridor. This project aims to improve mobility and transportation options along the 63rd Street Corridor and will identify mobility and connectivity solutions at three activity centers located at the intersections of Wornall/Main (Brookside Shops), Oak, and Troost/Rockhill. The project will evaluate transportation conditions, develop recommendations for improvements at key activity centers, create guidelines for future improvements connecting the centers, and create a toolbox of streetscape elements for use along the corridor.
The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and City of Kansas City, Missouri have hired planning and landscape architecture firm SWT Design to lead the planning effort. A robust and inclusive engagement strategy is underway, and we will need your help! Please return to this website for updates on dates for community open houses and opportunities to share your thoughts.
