LATEST CONSTRUCTION UPDATE (last update 12/30/19):

Phase One (Eastern)

In an effort to open the eastern portion of the project to traffic, temporary lanes were installed. Although the roadway from Highway 169 westward to Liberty Ave is open to traffic, the final surface layer of asphalt will not be placed until warmer weather in the spring. There is still sidewalk, curb and asphalt work to wrap up, but we wanted to be able to open the roadway for the traveling public and still move forward with other portions of the project.

Phase Two (Western):

The intersection of Waukomis and Englewood is currently closed to traffic as of December 30, 2019 until the second phase of the project is complete, which is anticipated around mid-June (weather permitting). Please follow posted detour routes.

View the detour route map.

Right now, the contractor is working on underground utilities (waterlines followed by storm sewer) from Ames Avenue towards Waukomis on Phase 2 of the project. After all that underground work is completed, the contractor can begin the surface improvements like grading and constructing the Waukomis roundabout. We still anticipate the project to be completed in summer 2020.
