Currently, KCMO and the City of Independence are in negotiations to figure out cost sharing, a maintenance agreement, and next steps for the bridge repair.*

*Bridge repair is dependent on available funding. 

Project Description: 

The Kentucky Road Bridge, located on the City of Independence/KCMO line east of the waste treatment plant, was closed in spring 2019 due to a hole in the bridge deck making it unsafe to traverse. KCMO is coordinating with the City of Independence on funding, developing the full scope of repair, and project management.

Traffic Impact: 

The bridge is currently closed. The current detour is about a mile-- in the event of a train, the detour involves taking Huttig Avenue to the east. 

Timeline: 

Bridge repairs are dependent on funding availability and cost sharing with the City of Independence.
