The Capital Projects Division manages key construction projects for the City of Kansas City, Mo. Public Works Department. Capital Projects staff are at the forefront of Kansas City’s construction renaissance, bringing process improvements and standardized practices to the management of street, bridge and building projects throughout the City. Personnel include project managers; construction inspectors; right-of-way, relocation and utility specialists; and finance and administrative professionals.

Project Description:

This project was completed in June 2019.  The 22nd/23rd Corridor is located in the heart of Kansas City, just east of Union Station. The reconstruction spans from Brooklyn Ave to Chestnut Ave and will provide a corridor between I-70 and 71 Highway. 

Roadway improvements include:

  • Realigning, widening, and paving
  • Replacing curbs and gutters
  • New sidewalks
  • Storm and sanitary sewers
  • Water main relocation
  • Landscaping

Public Engagement:


City leaders, neighbors and project representatives gathered on Wednesday, July 17 to celebrate the completion of roadway improvements on 22nd/23rd St.
