Construction Update:
Posted 9/22/2021: North Green Hills Road from Platte Brooke to Shore Drive is currently closed. We are evaluating options to enable our contractor to work on the north end of the project from NW 76th Terrace to NW 78th Street in the near future.
Updated, 5/7/21: Read the latest project update newsletter. Beginning Monday, the closed section of N. Green HiIls will extend further south to just north of NW 73rd Street.
Posted, 4/12/21: Project staff are working with the contractor to address traffic and speeding concerns along detour routes in the Platte Brooke North neighborhood. We will be taking the following action steps to help mitigate concerns:
Deploying changeable message boards early next weekto ask motorists to slow down at both ends of P NW Platte Brooke Drive;
Installing radar speed limit signs at or near 4106 NW Platte Brooke Drive for both directions;
Installing a pair of temporary rumble strip tape at the both ends of NW Platte Brooke Drive
Posted, 1/3/21: Beginning the week of January 4th 2021, Amino Brothers Company Inc. will begin construction of the new waterline. This work will require a road closure of N. Green Hills Road from Shore Drive to Platte Brooke Drive from approximately January 4th to March 15th. These dates are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions and is weather permitting.
The intersections of Shore Drive and Platte Brooke Drive will still be accessible for local traffic. Drivers will access Shore Drive from the north and Platte Brooke Drive from the south. All emergency vehicles will have access to the area.
Project Description:
The North Green Hills Road project is located near Lake Waukomis, southeast of KCI airport. The goals of this project are to improve safety, traffic flow, and alignment of N. Green Hills Road from NW Platte Brooke Drive to NW 78th Street.

Improved horizontal and vertical alignment
Retaining walls
Turn lane
Water main installation
Project funding is provided by voter-approved GO Bonds. This project is in partnership with Platte County and Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). The project was awarded federal funding from the MARC Surface Transportation Program for construction. The Missouri Department of Transportation will facilitate federal funding requirements of the project.
KCMO Public Works and the project team hosted a virtual meet the contractor meeting on November 5, 2020 using a Microsoft Teams Live Event. The meeting discussed project goals, timeline and the construction process.

Traffic Impact:
We anticipate some traffic delays during construction. Please follow posted detour routes. There will be two primary construction phases in the project.
