Project Description:

The Blue Ridge Boulevard Improvement Project consists of design of improvements along Blue Ridge Boulevard from 87th Street to Bannister Road. The goal of the project is to design infrastructure and streetscape improvements that will serve the needs of the surrounding community. The hope is that these improvements will spur redevelopment along this corridor and improve connections to area businesses and services.

Blue Ridge streetview imageBlue Ridge Boulevard is an important connector in Kansas City.  The project includes commercial nodes at 87th Street and Bannister Road, with residential areas in between - including the Loma Vista neighborhood.  Blue Ridge Boulevard is currently 4 lanes with a center turn lane at the commercial nodes at 87th and Bannister Road.

Project Study Includes:

  • Study of existing conditions
  • Public engagement to determine concerns, ideas and vision for corridor
  • Estimation of costs for final design and construction (pending funding)
  • A final report with recommendations for improvements

There is no funding for construction at this time.

Public Engagement:

The project is currently in the planning phase and will engage the public for input.  The objective of public engagement is to create meaningful opportunities for affected stakeholders, residents, businesses and those traveling along the corridor to offer feedback on planning efforts that will determine the best way to improve Blue Ridge Boulevard. Public input gathered through the engagement process will help to inform the development of alternatives that best meet the diverse needs of those who utilize the corridor.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, no in-person meetings are scheduled at this time. Opportunities for public involvement will be provided through on-line services that will be made available as the project progresses.

Visit the Blue Ridge Social Pinpoint website to engage with the corridor and submit your ideas or concerns.
