    Previous Planning & Public Engagement

picture taken at the public engagement event about troost corridor

Kansas City has engaged in extensive planning for the Troost Avenue Corridor. Key efforts include:

    • Troost Corridor Action Plan (2003): Focuses on creating neighborhood centers that balance pedestrian and automobile needs, promoting mixed-use developments.
    • Creating Sustainable Places Study (2013): Suggested improvements like tree-lined streets, enhanced lighting, better intersection designs, and traffic calming measures.
    • City-wide Master Plan: KC Spirit Playbook: A central goal of this master plan is improving connectivity, emphasizing pedestrian-friendly streets and reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

Public meetings and corridor studies have informed these plans, aiming to improve connectivity, reduce traffic incidents, and enhance the pedestrian experience. Check out the City's Event Calendar for information about future public engagement events!
