    Project Background:

22nd Street between Paseo to Park Ave is currently identified, has AADTs around 1720 vehicles per day. Lincoln Collage Prep Academy and The Kansas City School District are adjacent (within a block) of this corridor. This corridor serves downtown residential, residential low, and institutional uses. The corridor is appx. 2,769.3miles.

Based on USDOT Equitable Transportation Community Explorer, this corridor falls: disadvantage of relatively high climate and disaster burden, health vulnerability, environmental burden, and social vulnerability. The Heart of the City Area Plan aims to explore opportunities for road diets and improve streetscapes along transit corridors. It recommends designing and constructing 22nd Street as a complete street to accommodate all modes of transportation, as it serves as a key connector.  The major street plan identifies 22nd street as a building gap and recommends improvement.
