PIAC Projects

Kansas City relies on residents to recommend areas for improvements in the community by submitting a request to the Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC).

If you have submitted a PIAC Project you can search for details of the project with your PIAC number.

If you have questions related to a PIAC project, you can contact the PIAC Office at (816) 513-1062 or piac@kcmo.org.

Project Description:

Streetscape improvements spanning along Paseo Boulevard, starting two hundred feet north of the north line of 17th Terrace south to the north end of the north approach slab of the Paseo Bridge over the KC Terminal Railway Tracks. In addition to aesthetic improvements along the corridor, the project involves the modification of the 3 lane-configuration in either direction of the Paseo Boulevard to increase the width of the median. This will be accomplished by eliminating the inside lanes in both directions from 17th Terrace to the bridge crossing the KC Terminal Railway.

Additional Details:

  • The purpose of the median expansion is to provide increased median width which could house statuary and other plaza elements immediately north of 18th Street in the median between Northbound and southbound the Paseo.
  • Median may be widened by closing 17th Terrace across the median between northbound and southbound the Paseo.
  • Estimated total cost: $1-Million

Project Timeline:

Major construction on this project is expected to start August 2026 and be complete by May 2027, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
