    Project Overview

This phase of the project focusses on the stretch of 39th Street that spans from Broadway Boulevard to US-71 Highway. Due to crash data from the High Injury Network, the area has been identified for a "road diet" ordinance, aiming to improve pedestrian and traffic safety. The project team now wants to hear from the community to see if they support a road diet. This proposed road diet involves converting the existing 4 lanes of traffic to 3 lanes. It would also involve "microsurfacing" along the project area.

    Road diet:

    • A road diet is a mechanism that could reduce crashes by changing lane configurations. The proposed configuration is pictured above.
    • No Bike Lanes proposed on this Road Diet

    Microsurfacing:

    • Thin layer of surface coat (not remove
      and replace pavement)
    • 3/8” thickness
    • Designed to reduce water infiltration
