    Project Overview:

Phase 1 of the KCI 29 Logistics Park Public Improvements Project involved construction and relocation of N Mexico City Avenue, NW Roanridge Road, and NW 132nd Street in Kansas City, MO, just north of I-29 and the Kansas City International Airport. The purpose of the project was to provide access to the 200-acre mega site (3,300-acres in total) to spur economic development while providing greater separation of the intersection from MoDOT’s I-29 Interchange ramps.

The project was a partnership between Kansas City's Public Works Department, Port KC and developer Hunt Midwest (and their team of engineers and contractors). The public private partnership demonstrates the ability of public agencies and private developers to deliver high-quality public infrastructure improvements in an efficient and cost-effective manner which not only benefits the public but generates economic development and creates jobs for the community and region. Economic development spurred from these improvements as well as the future phases is anticipated to be significant while creating over 9,000 jobs for the region.

Funding for the $27.4M project was provided from the American Rescue Plan Act through the Missouri Department of Economic Development and Missouri Department of Transportation to Port KC. Support from former Governor Mike Parson was critical in securing funding for the project.
