    Project Overview:

This project involves constructing new sidewalk, curb, driveway approaches, ADA Ramps and resurfacing along Charlotte Street, from E 27th Terrace to E 31st Street. The east side sidewalks on Charlotte Street were previously completed, and crews are now shifting efforts to improving the west sidewalks and roadway improvements. This will include implementing a widened, shared-use path and reducing the traffic to a single one-way lane, with parking on both sides of the street. Sidewalk will be constructed outside the existing tree line to minimize disruption to existing trees. The project funding comes from GO bonds and PIAC money.

    Groundbreaking Ceremony:

To celebrate the start of work on the west side of Charlotte Street, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 12:30 - 1:00 PM. This will include remarks from 4th District Councilmember Eric Bunch and staff from Kansas City Public Works.

    Project Schedule:

The project is scheduled to start on second week of March 2026 and will last about 3 months. Street resurfacing will follow between Summer 2026 - Fall 2026.
