Traffic Alert: bridge construction will cause lane closures to Old Tiffany Springs Road, including along I-29 in Platte County
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 26, 2019
Traffic on Old Tiffany Springs Road is going to take a definite hit, starting Aug. 5, when bridge demolition and construction gets underway. The Old Tiffany Springs Road Bridge is expected to remain closed for several months.
Here are the details:
- CLOSURE 1: Old Tiffany Springs Road Bridge will be closed starting Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, for demolition and construction of the new bridge. This closure will last a few months while contractors construct the new bridge, which is expected to open for traffic before Thanksgiving 2019. Message boards and detour signage will be posted to notify motorists to use alternate routes: N. Congress Avenue to the west of I-29 and N. Ambassador Drive to the east of I-29.
- CLOSURE 2: All lanes of I-29 at NW Old Tiffany Springs Road will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, until 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, for bridge demolition. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes: I-435 from the Kansas side and I-29 and Route 152 on the Missouri side.
This work has the potential to impact KCI travelers. Motorists are encouraged to make the appropriate adjustments to meet departure and arrival times at KCI Airport.
This is all part of a KCMO Public Works project to make roadway improvements and build a new bridge at NW Old Tiffany Springs Road over I-29. Project improvements include new sidewalks, a walking trail, streetlights and storm sewer. We anticipate the project will be completed by the end of this year, weather permitting.
