Kansas City is awarding $3.2 million through the Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund (NTDF) to support 336 events and projects during the FY 2025-2026 funding cycle. Hosted by nonprofit organizations across the city, these events showcase Kansas City's diverse culture, rich history, vibrant arts scene, and deep-rooted sense of community.
"The NTDF is one of the many ways Kansas City celebrates its neighborhoods, fosters creativity, and strengthens community ties," said Interim City Manager Kimiko Gilmore. "By investing in events that reflect our city's energy and identity, we're building a more connected, inclusive, and welcoming Kansas City for residents and visitors alike."
Grant recipients include the 18th and Vine Arts Festival Foundation, City in Motion Dance Theater, Guadalupe Centers, Heartland Men's Chorus Kansas City, Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council, Kansas City Ballet Association, Marlborough Community Coalition, and many more.
"We are so grateful that Kansas City continues to support so many wonderful organizations and community events in this place we call home," said Alana Henry of the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council. "These dollars are crucial for organizing and executing events that bring joy and excitement to residents and visitors."
Andrea Smith, Chairperson of the Ethnic Enrichment Commission, echoed the impact: "The Ethnic Enrichment Commission and our member organizations have greatly benefited from NTDF funds, helping to fulfill our mission while expanding our reach and improving accessibility to our programs. Most recently, we were able to present an expanded Northland Ethnic Festival, showcasing the cultures and communities that have built Kansas City, making it the vibrant city it is today."
The NTDF supports nonprofit organizations that promote Kansas City as a destination through events that are open to the public and create a meaningful neighborhood or citywide impact. Eligible projects include festivals, concerts, cultural celebrations, sports tournaments, parades, home tours, and more. Events must take place within Kansas City limits and be accessible to both residents and visitors. Translate this into multiple languages through kcmo.gov/news for press releases.
