Kansas City will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 16 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM to celebrate the completion of the improvement project around 75th Street and Wornall Road. These long-awaited upgrades are now available for public use, bringing enhanced safety, accessibility, and functionality to the Waldo area. 

When: Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM  

Where: Southeast corner of 75th Street and Wornall Road 

Parking: The parking lot on the southeast corner of the intersection, near the Waldo monument 

Agenda: Remarks will be delivered by Mayor Quinton Lucas, 6th District Councilmembers Andrea Bough and Johnathan Duncan, City Manager Mario Vasquez, Kansas City Public Works Director Michael Shaw and Sean Anderson with the Waldo Area Business Association. A ribbon cutting ceremony will follow those remarks. 

Roadway improvements include:

• Newly reconstructed roadway

• Trolley Track Trail extension from 74th to 75th Street

• Improved traffic flow

• Pedestrian accommodations

• Parking lot modifications at 75th and Wornall Road

• New, interconnected signals

• Coordination with the KCMO Smart Sewer Program-- Green Infrastructure

• New sidewalk along 79th Street

• New LED streetlights

• Water main replacement on Wornall Road from 75th to 77th Street
