The Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 972,973 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in September, the third-busiest September in airport history and a 2.8-percent decline from September 2024. Passenger boardings were down 2.6 percent, with a total of 483,783 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 8,555,773, down 6.2 percent.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International were up 3.3 percent in September with a total of 22.5 million pounds handled. Year to date, 182.5 million pounds of air cargo has been handled, down 8.0 percent.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for September 2025 was 156. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 40,184 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 9 daily departures for September.
