Netherlands National Team Selects Kansas City as 2026 FIFA World Cup Base Camp

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mayor Quinton Lucas today celebrated the selection of the Kansas City as the official base camp for the Netherlands National Football Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing one of the world's most storied football programs to the Kansas City region.
 
The three-time World Cup finalist will operate out of the Kansas City Current Training Facility, utilizing the world-class facility as their home base and official team headquarters throughout the tournament. The Dutch Men's National Team will train at the complex while competing in the World Cup, including their final group stage match in Kansas City on Thursday, June 25.

The selection of Kansas City as the Netherlands' base camp highlights the region's world-class sports infrastructure and welcoming community. The City will serve as a hub for Dutch supporters, providing an iconic backdrop for the passionate Oranje fanbase known for their vibrant pre-match celebrations and marches to the stadium.
 
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with Kansas City selected as one of 16 host cities. GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will host six total contests, including four group stage and two knockout matches, as well as a quarterfinal on July 11. The Netherlands will play their final group stage match in Kansas City on Thursday, June 25, at 6 p.m. CT against Tunisia.
 
Beyond the matches themselves, Kansas City expects to welcome thousands of Netherlands supporters to the region, providing a significant cultural and economic boost to local businesses and creating opportunities for international exchange and community celebration.
