Road closure update for Englewood Road improvements
North Summit Road will be closed starting June 24
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 21, 2019
The next phase of the Englewood Road reconstruction project will require the temporary closure of North Summit Road. Starting Monday, June 24, the road will close for about three weeks so that it can be excavated to clear the way to construct the tie-in to the newly aligned portion of North Summit.
Digital message boards and detour signs will alert drivers to the closure and help them to navigate through the area. The detour route includes using NW 60th Street west through the neighborhood to NW 68th Street.
The Englewood Road Complete Streets project is a reconstruction of Englewood Road from U.S. 169 to Waukomis Drive and is expected to be completed in fall 2020. The project will result in an upgrade of the existing two-lane unimproved roadway to a three-lane roadway with new curb, gutter and sidewalks/10-foot trail. Additional improvements include:
- bike lanes
- storm sewer improvements
- water main replacement and upgrade
- new streetlights
- traffic signal
- median and landscaping improvements
- new roundabout at Waukomis and Englewood
- realigned North Summit Street
