The City of Kansas City is thrilled to announce Kenneth C. Morgan's appointment as the new Water Services Director for KC Water. Morgan brings a wealth of experience and a robust track record of success in the water and wastewater management industry. Kenneth C. Morgan currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Water Distribution Division for the Public Utilities Department in the City of San Diego.

Morgan served as director of the water department for the City of Fort Worth, Texas, served the City of Phoenix as deputy director of water services, and previously worked for 15 years with Denver Water. His extensive experience in the field has equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully serve Kansas City residents.

Director Morgan's extensive experience in cities across the nation will ensure our Water Department remains a national leader in the industry,” said Mayor Quinton Lucas. “Under Kenneth’s direction, we will foster an excellent work environment for the women and men of KC Water, provide the best quality of water, exceptional customer service for our rate payers, and continue to prepare for the water needs of Kansas City's future.”

Morgan is committed to further enhancing Kansas City's reputation within the water industry through employee development, productivity, and service innovations. His leadership will drive the continued growth and reliability of Kansas City's water systems, benefiting current and future generations.

In his career, Morgan has managed various divisions within public utilities, including Customer Care, Engineering and Project Management, Field Operations, and Strategic Operations. He has been responsible for the direction and guidance of 24/7 water distribution systems, ensuring the training and continuous development of water distribution and collection system employees. His previous roles saw him manage the Engineering, Environmental Services, Street, Wastewater, and Water divisions of the Public Works Department.

“Kenneth brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and best practices from several top-tier water utilities and cities in the United States, and we look forward to his leadership here to build on our already high-quality operation in Kansas City,” said City Manager Brian Platt.

A registered Professional Engineer in Colorado, Missouri, and Arizona, Morgan is certified as a Grade 4 Water Distribution System Operator in Arizona and a Class D Water Operator in Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and is an active American Water Works Association member.
