2026 Kansas City Bikeways & Trails Plan

Overview:

The 2026 Kansas City Bikeways and Trails Plan will build on progress made over the last 8 years since the development of the unadopted 2018 Bike Master Plan. That plan laid out an ambitious plan to transform city infrastructure by adding over 130 miles of prioritized bikeways, focusing on connectivity and protected lanes. The recently completed (soon to be adopted) 3rd District Mobility Plan also serves as inspiration to bring non-motorized mobility options to the whole city.

Project Phasing:

  • Phase 1 - Building the network: April 2026 - July 2026 (completed)
  • Phase 2 - Setting priorities: August 2026 - November 2026 (current phase)
  • Phase 3 - Refining the network: December 2026 - January 2027
  • Phase 4 - Proposing plan for adoption: anticipated for March 2027
