As part of the City’s commitment to transparency, we’ve developed a more convenient way to access public information. Through our centralized Sunshine Requests Center, you can:
- Submit and track the status of Open Records requests
- Communicate with us about your request
- Obtain your documents once they become available
- Find answers to common questions in the FAQ section
Please note that the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a federal law. In Missouri, public requests for information are governed by the Sunshine Law. To learn more about Sunshine Requests, take a look at this helpful guide from the Missouri Attorney General’s office.
Tips For a Successful Open Records Request
- Submit your request in writing. Most requests will be delivered digitally.
- Provide as much information as possible, including name, address, date range, and subject matter.
- Allow processing time. We aim to fulfill your request within three days, but some may take longer depending on the context. Please note that governmental bodies are not required to create records that don’t already exist.

We currently accept checks or money orders made payable to the City Treasurer. Payments may be submitted in person or by mail.
