AdvanceKC Economic Development Strategic Plan
The AdvanceKC Strategic Plan was developed with the help of community leaders who help guide public, private and civic investment. The plan supports innovative best practices that have been successfully implemented around the country.
The strategic plan presents what Kansas City needs to do to attract and retain jobs and talent, making it an even better place to live and work. Every geographic area in the city will benefit from the AdvanceKC strategies.
The Strategic Plan was adopted by the City Council in November 2012.
The work to create the Advance KC tools included an appraisal of trends affecting the City of Kansas City’s local economy. The Competitive Snapshot takes a detailed look at a diverse array of indicators that impact Kansas City’s economic competitiveness and compares these trends to three benchmark communities – Indianapolis, Oklahoma City and Charlotte – the state of Missouri and the nation.
The Competitive Snapshot also includes public input through focus groups, interviews and an online community survey.
