The Kansas City Building and Rehabilitation Code outlines the minimum requirements for construction within the City of Kansas City, Mo. It is designed to safeguard the public’s health and general welfare as buildings are constructed.
City Council adopted an update to the code with Ordinance 120375, Chapter 18. This update includes the most recent versions of previously adopted model codes, including the 2012 International Building Code.
The International Code Council provides the complete content of the various international codes.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials provides the complete content of the Uniform Plumbing Code.
The National Fire Protection Association provides complete content of all standards. Click on the standard you wish to view; then click the Free Access link. Consult the adopted codes to determine which standards and editions are adopted by reference.

On August 23, 2018, the City Council passed Ordinance 180591 – which removed Blasting Notifications from the City Planning and Development Department’s permit process and put it under the Fire Marshal’s Division of the Fire Department.
