The City of Kansas City is partnering with the Cities for Financial Fund (CFE) through the CityStart initiative to develop strategies that support wealth building, financial stability, and economic mobility. The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) is a national nonprofit organization that works with local governments to help residents achieve greater financial stability and build wealth.

The organization supports cities and counties by providing funding, technical assistance, research, and proven strategies that help communities address financial challenges and expand economic opportunity

The CityStart initiative is helping the City of Kansas City identify and address financial barriers that can limit opportunities for residents, particularly within Black communities. Through community engagement, resident feedback, and local data, the initiative is working to develop strategies that support financial stability, economic mobility, and generational wealth building. Your participation helps ensure that future recommendations reflect the experiences, priorities, and aspirations of the people who call Kansas City home

What is Citystart?

The CityStart initiative is designed to create policies that reflect the lived experiences of residents. Community members have already helped identify the issues that matter most through conversations and engagement sessions across the community.

The survey is the next step in this process. Responses will help guide recommendations that can be included in a financial empowerment blueprint for local governments serving communities with significant or majority Black populations.
