The Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) proudly continues the legacy of EMS education established by the UMKC School of Medicine, with the mission to develop compassionate, competent, and ethical clinicians through specialized emergency medical knowledge and psychomotor skills.

Programs Offered:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Paramedic
  • AHA Courses: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Special/Continuing Education

The EMT course and Paramedic Program offered through the KCFD School of EMS are public education programs and are not part of the KCFD hiring process, nor do they constitute employment with KCFD.

Accreditation

EMS Education Programs are approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of EMS (#09529P).

KCFD Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
