About the Class

Smoke School is held at the Birmingham Treatment Plant – 10801 N.E. 28th St., Kansas City, MO 64161. The Birmingham Treatment Plant is located east of the Ameristar Casino, adjacent to Route 210.

The fall classroom session is geared towards first-time attendees.

For details about certification, please refer to CFR Part 75, Appendix B.

We recommend that all attendees do testing multiple times to help avoid false passing and provide more practice.

Each facility should record opacity readings in the field.

Please use the Sample Opacity Records Form if you do not currently have one.

This is a suggested format from Method 9; other forms may be used as long as the information listed in Section 2, Method 9 is recorded.

Copies of classroom materials are available upon request. Please call (816) 513-6314 for more information.
