Failure to Appear Warrants and License Suspensions

A warrant for missing court on some moving violations can also trigger your driver's license being suspended. For more, see Warrants and Compliance Letters.

Guilty Pleas/Findings of Guilt and Traffic Violations
Missouri law requires courts to report any plea or finding of guilt for a moving traffic violation to the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) within seven (7) days, as outlined in §302.225 RSMo. This reporting requirement applies to all moving violations, including those resolved through SIS (Suspended Imposition of Sentence) probation or designated as “No Point” violations.
  • The court’s role is limited to reporting the disposition. The court does not decide how the violation will affect a driver's license.
  • DOR determines the licensing consequences, which may vary based on the driver’s license type (standard driver’s license vs. commercial driver’s license), and other factors.
  • If you have questions about how a particular disposition was applied to your or your client’s driving record, please contact the Missouri Department of Revenue directly.
