Substance Use, Mental Health and Women's Court
Wellness Court is the merger of Drug Court and Mental Health Court under one umbrella to serve the whole person. It is an intensive court-supervised comprehensive treatment program for people who are charged in Kansas City Municipal Court and exhibit signs of a co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Admission to the program is a completely voluntary choice. It also includes WIN (Women in Need of Change), a Women's Court track within Wellness Court that serves as a trauma-responsive specialty court that aims to promote recovery, independence, and self-sufficiency for its female participants.

Wellness Court Overview
The focus of Wellness Court is to truly meet people where they are and provide the treatment and support they need. This program is based upon the belief that a person-centered approach will promote the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of participants, reduce re-offense, and increase public safety. The Wellness Court team is committed to assisting participants with creating a better and more stable lifestyle including help with employment, education, and housing.

Wellness Court Phases
- Phase I-Orientintaion

In addition to required programming, participants will be able to choose from a variety of elective pro-social programs and activities based on their individual interests.
Wellness Court Graduation Requirements
- Successfully complete substance use and/or mental health treatment.
- Complete all other treatment plan goals & objectives.
- Complete all specialized conditions outlined in the Wellness Court contract.
- Comply with relapse prevention and/or aftercare plan.
- Alcohol & Drug Free for minimum of 180 days.
- No new arrests or charges.
- Community Service hours completed, or fees paid in full.
- Stable housing has been acquired.
- Involved in Community Support (AA, NA, alternative recovery support, etc.)
- Employed, in school, volunteering or in day treatment.
