The Kansas City Council approved the FY 2023-2024 budget, which included sustainability efforts: 

• $1 million to add 10,000 trees to the City's tree canopy over three years.

Canopy Cover KC is made possible by the support of Bridging the Gap in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. This citywide effort also includes support from Parks and Recreation. 

This initiative is the first time tree planting will occur on private property with city-funded support.
