Important Note: Through the duration of the city's stay-at-home order, the three leaf and brush drop-off centers will be closed Saturdays. The sites remain open Monday through Friday- no drop off fee for KCMO residents. This is to help comply with the mayor’s emergency declaration to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

Drop-Off Site Information and Rules

  • KCMO maintains three leaf and brush drop-off site locations. See locations and specific information below.
  • Proof of residency using a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID is required.
  • Drop-offs from commercial enterprises are accepted for a fee (see price list).
  • Grandview and Raytown residents may use the sites for a fee.
  • Only leaves, yard waste and brush (including tree trimmings) are accepted. Grass clippings are accepted.
  • You may bring leaves in paper yard-waste bags. If you seal your bags, use masking tape only. Do not use wire, duct tape or other plastic tape. If you bring plastic bags, please empty them and take them back with you.
  • You may be asked to empty bags to show there is no trash.
  • Sites are attended. Sites may be under surveillance when not in operation. If you see anyone dumping at these sites, please report date, time and description of vehicle and people to 311.

In addition to dropping off leaves and brush, residents may also pick up mulch. Residents may pick up ground mulch for free at all of the sites, or they may purchase natural darkwood, red and brown mulch and natural compost from the North Chouteau Trafficway and North Main Street sites.

Curbside Leaf and Brush Collection

KC Water, on behalf of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, conducts scheduled curbside leaf and brush collections each spring and fall. Visit their site to review collection rules and more.

Spring 2020 set-out dates:

  • North: April 20-24
  • Central: April 13-17
  • South: April 6-10

If your leaf and brush pick-up week is the same as the special ‘no tag’ trash week April 13-17, please make sure you leave separate piles- one for trash and one for leaves and brush. Please do not combine them.
