Rental property registration has been combined with the new Healthy Homes Rental Inspection Program which provides for minimum health and safety standards in rental housing in Kansas City, Mo. The new program was passed by the voters as an initiative petition on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018, and is administered by the Health Department. For more information, please call (816) 513-6347 or see Article XIX of Chapter 34 of the Kansas City Code of Ordinances.

You must still register vacant structures with this department. Newly purchased vacant structures which are intended to become active rental properties must be renewed as rentals within 30 days of the tenant taking occupancy.
