Project Overview:

The Reconnecting the Westside project focused on restoring connections within the Westside neighborhood, addressing historic challenges continuing caused by the construction of I-35 and I-670. Those decisions will be made using data from a comprehensive Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study.

What is Reconnect Westside Study?

 

This study aims to address the environmental, economic, health, and transportation burdens from past transportation planning efforts and investments. Kansas City’s application for the Westside neighborhood focuses on three key barriers:

  • The Interstate Highway System (I-35 and I-670)
  • Beardsley Road and the Westside Bluff
  • Barriers within the Westside, including railroads, topography, surface streets, and other features.
