In May 2020, KCMO City Council passed the Vision Zero resolution to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries on our streets by 2030, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for everyone. 

The Vision Zero Task Force was created to work through the resolution focus areas and start crafting a plan to create safer streets. 

Vision Zero is not necessarily a new concept-- it builds on existing efforts and encourages a fresh look at the way we design, build, evaluate and experience our streets.

Kansas City's Vision Zero initiative kicked off in spring 2021 and is an ongoing effort to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030 with 300 projects completed or underway. The Task Force and staff team continue working with the community, City Council and various partner organizations on executing Vision Zero actions and annual project lists.
