Leaf and brush curbside collection occurs annually in the Spring and Fall, with three (3) collections per year. This collection takes places in the afternoon and evenings after regular trash and recycling collections. If sacks and bundles are not collected on the scheduled trash day, please leave them on the curb for collection the following day.
Please contact 311 one (1) business day after your collection day to report a missed collection.

Curbside Collection Rules
- Sacks and bundles should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the regularly-scheduled trash day, but not before 3:00 p.m. on the previous day.
- No more than 20 sacks and bundles per household.
- Sacks and bundles must not weigh more than 40 pounds each.
- Use only paper lawn debris sacks. No plastic bags.
- If you seal the sacks, use masking tape only; do not use plastic or duct tape.
- No grass clippings. No trash.
- All branches must be bundled. Branches must not be more than 3 inches in diameter.
- Bundles of branches must not be more than 2 feet in diameter and not more than 4 feet long.
- Use twine or jute rope to tie bundles; do not use wire or plastic tape.
- If wet weather is forecast, cover sacks and bundles with clear plastic.

Winter Schedule
All Sites Closed on Saturdays for the Winter: As of December 20, 2025, leaf and brush sites are closed for Saturday drop-offs. All Sites Reopen on Saturdays for Spring: March 14th
January 3rd - KCMO Dropsite (North Main, Raytown Road, and Chouteau) will be open for Christmas tree drop-off from 8 AM to 5 PM. All other locations remain closed.

Dropoff Site Information & Rules
- Kansas City maintains three leaf and brush dropoff site locations.
- Minimal fee drop off site (see price list)
- Free for Kansas City, Missouri residents on Saturdays. Check location schedules for closure information.
- In order to qualify for Free Drop Off, a valid Kansas City, Missouri ID is required. If ID is from another location, present a current utility bill or tax receipt that shows a Kansas City, Missouri address and matches the name on your ID.
- Dropoffs from commercial enterprises are accepted for a fee (see price list).
- Non Kansas City residents may use the sites, fees apply.
- Only leaves, yard waste, grass clippings and brush (including tree trimmings) are accepted.
- You may bring leaves in paper yard-waste bags. If you seal your bags, use masking tape only. Do not use wire, duct tape or other plastic tape. If you bring plastic bags, please empty them and take them back with you.
- You may be asked to empty bags to show there is no trash.
- Sites are attended. Sites may be under surveillance when not in operation. If you see anyone dumping at these sites, please report date, time and description of vehicle and people to 311.
In addition to dropping off leaves and brush, residents may also pick up mulch. Residents may pick up ground mulch for free, or they may purchase natural darkwood, red and brown mulch and natural compost from all three sites.
