How to Prepare Your Leaf & Brush for Pickup 

Following these rules helps our collection crews work safely and efficiently. If your yard waste is not set out correctly, it may be tagged with a violation notice and not collected.

Set Out Requirements:  

• Curbside collection requires the use of paper lawn debris sacks:
  • No more than 20 sacks and bundles per household.
  • If wet weather is forecast, cover sacks and bundles with clear plastic.
  • If you seal the sacks, use masking tape only; do not use plastic or duct tape.
• Timing - Items must be placed at the curb:
  • No earlier than 3 P.M. the day before collection.
  • No later than 7 A.M. on your scheduled collection day. 
• All branches must be bundled:
  • Branches must not be more than 3 inches in diameter.
  • Bundles of branches must not be more than 2 feet in diameter and not more than 4 feet long.
  • Use twine or jute rope to tie bundles, not wire or plastic tape.

If your yard waste was not collected, it may be due to a missed pickup, or because the set-out rules were not followed.

If you received a Leaf & Brush Violation Notice, your items were not collected because they did not follow the set-out instructions. You must correct the issue before the next scheduled collection day.

We had to leave your items behind because:

• Overweight/Oversized Items:
  • Sacks and bundles cannot weigh more than 40 lbs. each.
  • Branches must not be more than 3 inches in diameter.
  • Bundles of branches must not be more than 2 feet in diameter and not more than 4 feet long.
• Contaminated or Prohibited Items/Container:
  • Leaf and brush cannot be mixed with grass clippings or trash. 
  • You used an unacceptable container, only paper lawn debris sacks are allowed.
  • No plastic bags are accepted.
  • Bundles must not be tied with wire or plastic tape.
• Placement:
  • Leaf and brush was not set at the curbside or obstacles were blocking items (such as parked vehicles, mailboxes, trash carts, etc.)
