The Grand Boulevard Bike & Pedestrian Bridge is now open to the public! The addition of a dedicated pathway for bicyclists and pedestrians along the existing Grand Boulevard Bridge, separate from vehicular traffic and the future KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension. This creates a safe and continuous connection between the Berkley Riverfront Park area and the River Market neighborhood/business district:

• A dedicated pedestrian facility connecting River Market to Berkley Front Park.
• Bicycle facilities providing access 3rd St. bike lanes to the trail system at Berkley Riverfront Park
• These facilities will be on a separate bridge, outside the existing vehicular bridge

This project is complete, with this portion of SW Boulevard fully open to the public! This project involves the reconfiguration of Southwest Boulevard and 19th Street from Broadway Boulevard to Grand Boulevard:

• Lanes reconfigured to one lane in each direction with a turning lane in the middle for traffic calming.
• Roadway repaving
• Separated 10’ mobility lane on the south side
• Continuous concrete curb to separate east-bound traffic from the mobility lane
• Concrete bulb-outs on the south side, some with shallow planter beds

This project is now complete, with 18th Street now open to the public! This historic corridor has been redesigned for pedestrian activity; featuring streetscape improvements and utility upgrades along 18th Street from the Paseo to Woodland Avenue. The corridor is open to traffic when events are not happening, and will close to traffic during events and activations:

• Newly repaved streets and sidewalks, reconfigured into pedestrian plaza
• Decorative features like colored concrete, landscaping beds and unique public seating
• Waterline replacements
• New stormwater detention system
• New streetlights and cameras
• Fiber line replacement
• Bollards (can be arranged in various configurations depending on the event)

This project is now complete and 31st Street is fully open to the public! Involves pedestrian enhancements, lighting, and accessibility improvements along 31st Street between Main Street and Gillham Road:

Improvements on Stadium Drive & Raytown Road are now completed! This project involves mobility and safety upgrades in preparation for increased traffic along Stadium Drive from Raytown Road to East 31st Street:

• Lane reconfiguration/road diet: converting lanes to two through lanes and a continuous center turn lane
• New sidewalks
• Addition of a raised shared use path/trail on the south side of Stadium Drive
• Shared through lanes

To solve flooding issues along Mill Street and the surrounding area in Westport, a brand-new storm sewer system is being built along the street starting at Dr Jermiah Cameron Park and ending at the Sunfresh Market at Mill and Southwest Trafficway.

The work includes increasing storm sewer capacity by rehabbing current storm sewers and adding in underground water basins at each end point to be able to better collect and manage heavy rainfall.

Work will also include street repaving and street scape improvements along the route as well as enhancements to Dr Jeramiah Cameron Park.

Westport Stormwater Improvements

Corridor restoration and safety improvements for both pedestrians and drivers along Wornall Road from 74th Street to 79th Street. This project is completed and open to the public:

• Newly reconstructed roadway
• Trolley Track Trail extension from 74th to 75th Street
• Improved traffic flow
• Pedestrian accommodations
• Parking lot modifications at 75th and Wornall Rd.

Promoting walkability near the Kansas City International Airport through a 10-foot shared-use path/trail, located along northeast side of I-29 Highway from NW Old Tiffany Springs Road to NW 112th Street. This project is completed and the trail is open to the public.
