Neighborhood & Health Improvements

Improving Neighborhoods Across Kansas City

From abatement and compliance to major cleanups and health initiatives, Match Ready KC strengthens quality of life for residents while preparing the city for increased visitors.

Kansas City Health Department: Getting Ready for the World Cup

Our Health Department is working hard to keep everyone—residents, visitors, and event staff —safe and healthy. We have a clear plan that focuses on being prepared, working together, and sharing information openly.

What We’re Doing

  • Checking food safety and making sure only licensed vendors serve at events
  • Monitoring the environment and preventing illness
  • Planning for emergencies so we can respond quickly if needed

Working Together

Health is a team effort. We’re partnering with city departments, community groups, and the KC 2026 Host Committee to share reliable health information.

Meet Match Ready KC

We’re introducing the Match Ready KC Cohort—15 trained Community Wellness Ambassadors. They’ll be in neighborhoods before, during, and after the World Cup to share accurate information, fight misinformation, and connect people to resources. Look for them in your area—they’re here to help!

Neighborhoods Programs

  • Illegal dumping enforcement
  • Compliance sweeps
  • Nuisance remediation
  • Dangerous building demolition
