Kansas City is preparing to welcome fans from around the world. Whether arriving through MCI or traveling between events, Match Ready KC provides clear guidance for a smooth visit.

Navigation & Travel

  • A new cellphone lot is being built along Bern Street near Brasilia Ave. This work is scheduled to finish this spring and will create 167 new parking spaces, enhanced accessibility from the road, a new restroom facility and increased lighting and security for people coming to pick up their loved ones from MCI.
  • BRT updates
  • There are many options to travel to and from Kansas City International Airport, whether that be by bus, rideshare or rental car. Visit the Airport's website for more details.
  • KC Streetcar coverage
  • There are three information desks at MCI for travelers to ask questions of staff and receive help to find their way around. The desks are located on the arrivals level across from the doors travelers use to exit the secure side of the terminal, in Concourse A just passed Security and in Concourse B pass the sky bridge.
  • Kansas City International Airport has an ambassador program made up of volunteers who are there to help travelers by answering questions, giving directions, listening to issues or just being a cheerful face. These volunteers are trained by Kansas City Aviation customer experience staff, and many have been with the department for several years. The ambassadors have also received extra training ahead of the world cup to be able to better serve the many international fans that will be flying in and out of MCI.

Wayfinding & Multilingual Resources

  • Kansas City International Airport have multiple language and translation options for travelers inside the terminal. At each of the information desks inside the terminal customer service staff have access to the City's Language Line translation services as well as Propio video and phones translation. There are also iPads with Google Translate installed as well.
  • Travelers also have access to the AIRA app while on airport grounds. AIRA offers video call guidance for travelers who are vision impaired as well as ASL video interpretation for those hearing impaired. The app is free to use while at Kansas City International.
  • If you would like to see a guide to Kansas City International Airport, there are several videos on the airport website.

Camping and Tenting

Here are some resources for our visitors and residents to maximize the World Cup experience when it comes to camping and tenting in Kansas City. Visit the Jackson County, Missouri Parks & Recreation website for more information about camping options.

Help Keep Pathways Clear

Do not stand or position yourself or your property in a public place in a way that blocks people, cars, or access to businesses.

Check Before You Set Up

You cannot live in, stay in, or set up a tent or covered vehicle/trailer on any empty or open piece of land in the city without proof of ownership or a lease.

Respect Other’s Property

Get Permission

  1. Without permission, you cannot go onto or stay on someone’s building or property. You can check to see if you may be trespassing by checking the following:
    1. Is the property fenced or clearly enclosed?
    2. Were you told not to enter or are no‑trespassing signs posted?
  2. Permission is also needed to enter or stay in a vacant building. This is a structure that is no longer lived in or used for normal business. Permission must be obtained in writing to enter or stay in the outdoor area around a vacant building if you have already been asked to leave and you want to return to the same property.
  3. You cannot enter or stay in any park or trail when it is closed without permission from the Parks & Recreation Department. Also, being on a golf course while it is closed counts as trespassing.
