    World Cup Road Closures & Detours - What to Expect

    With all of the World Cup festivities, residents and visitors can expect various traffic impacts. Information about important detours and closures can be found below.

    FIFA Fan Festival™ Traffic Management Plan

    The following traffic management shows the road closures that will be in place to support the operations for FIFA Fan Festival™ and the ConnectKC26 Bus Mall.

    Kessler Road and Memorial Drive
    • Restricted area begins south of Pershing Lofts
    • Closed May 11 – July 24 for FIFA Fan FestivalTM set up, operations and removal
    E 27th Street
    • Main Street to Warwick Trafficway closed for pedestrian pathway
    • Permit required to access between Warwick Trafficway and McGee Trafficway
    • 18 days FIFA Fan FestivalTM is open
    Warwick Trafficway
    • Permit required to access south of E 27th Street
      • June 9-July 13 for ConnectKC26 Region Direct service
    • Closed between E 27th Street and E 26th Street
      • 18 days FIFA Fan FestivalTM is open
    E 26th Street
    • Eastbound lanes closed from Warwick Trafficway to McGee Trafficway
    • Access to parking garage north of E 26th Street will remain open – vehicles can make the eastbound left turn from E 26th Street to Warwick Trafficway or from northbound McGee Trafficway; to exit, vehicles must travel west on E 26th Street
    • 6 match days
    McGee Trafficway
    • Southbound lanes closed between E 26th Street and E 27th Street
    • Access to parking garage east of McGee Trafficway will remain open – vehicles must access from northbound lane
    • 6 match days
    McGee Trafficway On-Street Parking Restrictions
    • Between E 29th Street and Gillham Road
    • June 9-July 13 for ConnectKC26 Region Direct service

    Kansas City Stadium (Arrowhead) – Traffic Management Plan

    To help streamline traffic movement on the 6 match days, the following traffic management plan will be in place up to 7 hours prior to match time. Permit access-only areas will be implemented on the 6 match days up to 7 hours prior to match time - fill out permit here.

    What To Expect – Blue Ridge Cutoff

    For the 6 match days, traffic movements will be restricted on Blue Ridge Cutoff between I-70 and Raytown Road.

    • No left-hand-turns from Blue Ridge Cutoff once traffic management is in place. 
    • Two hours prior to match time (kickoff):
      • Blue Ridge Cutoff northbound lanes close at Raytown Road. Vehicles on the east side of Blue Ridge Cutoff can exit using the northbound lanes
      • Blue Ridge Cutoff southbound lanes remain open, but no left (eastbound) turns
    • Kickoff through first half:
      Blue Ridge Cutoff northbound lanes reopen
    • Halftime:
      Blue Ridge Cutoff northbound lanes close to prepare for traffic leaving the stadium

    Neighborhood Permit Access

    On the 6 match days, KC2026 is implementing a temporary residential access permit program for the neighborhood between Blue Ridge Cutoff and Ditzler Avenue and East 43rd Street to East 44th Street. This program is designed to manage the increase in tournament traffic and help residents maintain parking access.

    Kansas City will host matches on June 16, 20, 25, 27 and on July 3 and 11, 2026. On those days, up to four hours before match time (match times are listed below), a permit will be required for vehicle access to the neighborhood between Blue Ridge Cutoff and Ditzler Avenue and East 43rd Street to East 44th Street. There will be no access into or out of the neighborhood from Blue Ridge Cutoff.

    To obtain a permit(s), you or your representative will need to provide the make, model and color of the permitted vehicle along with one form of identification that shows you live in the permitted area. This can be any of the following:

    • Valid driver’s license
    • Recent utility bill (water, gas, or electric) dated within the last 90 days
    • Current, notarized lease or rental agreement
    • Recent bank statement or credit card bill
    • Vehicle registration or title
    • Mortgage or local property tax statement
